Help older people

Learn from the senior citizens of the world! Sometimes there are age restrictions for volunteers visiting people in aged care facilities, but don't let that stop you from helping in some other way.

5 things you can do

1. Write to someone living in an aged care facility, whether it be a hostel or a nursing home. YVolunteer can help you locate a facility close to you. Getting letters can make someone's day, so get creative and start writing!

2. Get your class to make crafty picture frames for residents in an aged care facility.

3. Offer to water your neighbour's garden, or help with the gardening for that matter!

4. Ask your teacher to help you invite seniors in your area to your school for a computer lesson.

5. Get together a group of friends and make up a concert that you can perform at an aged care facility.

Share your experience

YVolunteer wants to encourage lots of young people to volunteer and help their community. If you are already doing something, tell us about it! We will post your story so that other young people can read it and get inspired.
